April 22: She wrote "I had felt badly all day in consequence of not having had quite sleep enough, and today too I have at times been far from feeling light and active. April 25. I have felt unwell a large part of the time and then I can't exert myself much. Today, when I returned to Papa's to dinner after giving Nanny her music lesson I was so much exhausted, I felt I could hardly get there. April 26. I felt very badly all day yesterday, and didn't read more than two hours all put together." Maria Louisa, the Broadus's third child was born ca. June, 1856.
